Global OutReach Mission
We are currently commissioned with an organization called Global Outreach Mission (GOM) Click Here for more information. GOM has many different outreaches, but we are focused on what they are doing and what their vision is for Sierra Leone, West Africa. Their website has information about the organization in general and about Sierra Leone along with the Mokanji hospital project.
In 2007 three local Muslim chiefs donated the old hospital building and the land to GOM. This hospital was used as the premier hospitals in the area, but was decimated by the civil war and is in ruins. EMI did a site visit in 2009 and their engineers determined that the buildings were structurally sound and their architects drew up a site plan for a 4 phase reconstruction. Work teams have started the beginning of this year to work on the reconstruction. Additionaly, GOM was given a well digger which has just been sent over to Sierra Leone. A friend of ours will actually be going to Sierra Leone in February to stay for 6 months and start digging wells at the hospital site and at the 50 churches and 14 Christian schools that GOM has in Sierra Leone.
GOM also has a YouTube video about Mokanji hospital if you would like to see first hand. Click Here to watch.
Some history of Sierra Leone is:
Civil war from 1991-2002, UN peacekeepers left the end of 2005, country slowly returning to democracy. Estimated 5.1 million people with an avgerage life expectancy 55 years. They consist of 60% Muslim, 10% Christian and if you would like to find out more great information visit the CIA World Fact Book Click Here for more information

Phillipines Mission
For three and a half months, I was in the United States itinerating as part of my contract as a General Board of Global Ministries missionary. I visited a total of 27 different churches in Illinois , Tennessee , and Indiana . Mainly I visited churches who are in covenant relationship with me but I also visited a few prospective churches who may become a covenant church. During that time I gave 20 sermons, 5 children’s stories, and made 29 presentations to church groups, Sunday School classes, United Methodist Women’s groups and United Methodist Men’s groups. I drove 2,229 kilometers in a car generously loaned by an elderly lady who doesn’t drive anymore.
For the sermons, I gave my faith journey and for the other presentations I talked about Southern Philippines Methodist Colleges (SPMC). I also had a display of Filipino articles and pictures from SPMC including a handout of ways to help SPMC.
God bless!
Shalom,
Janet McCarty
